Officially CPACC Certified
What does being Certified Professional in Accessibility Core Competencies (CPACC) mean?
Per the definition: Earners of the IAAP Certified Professional in Accessibility Core Competencies (CPACC) have demonstrated their broad foundational knowledge of disability and accessibility concepts, to lead, guide, and develop more accessible products, services, and environments. This credential defines what accessibility professionals are expected to know and to help increase the quality of work delivered in the industries served.
I passed! Though I wish the results shared where I needed to brush up on my skills. It said that I was above standards in all 3 categories:
Disabilities, Challenges, and Assistive Technologies
Accessibility and Universal Design
Declarations, Standards, Laws, and Management Strategies
But beyond that, it doesn’t tell me much else!
I do feel that because I am disabled myself, this helped me answering many of the questions that were in the test because I face barriers on a daily basis.
So what’s next?
My next step is maintaining learning about all things accessibility. I’d like to become an expert in document accessibility. This means ensuring that all documents are ready by screen readers.
And here’s a big one, signing on with a company or two as a consultant! Any leads, ideas? I’ll gladly take them!
